Sorry to say, but I'm still having the same calculation issues.
Just to be sure though, when you say to save the files locally, do you mean on the desktop, c:, etc and not on any network drives?
Really appreciate the support you are giving us on this matter.

Andy, thanks for the quick reply. Copying the DSB file from the server to the local hard drive works. We can run the model and get results.
Not sure what they changed in this version of SBEM but an existing job has slipped from 74 down to 90.

The default location for designbuilder files is under "My Documents\DesignBuilder Data\". I moved our problem file from the server to this location and the model now runs fine.
Good luck.

Yep you can get some some big changes in ratings from SBEM 3.2.b to 3.4.a.
Pleased to hear the fix works

Hi Andy,
Thanks for getting back! I still having the same issues though as I only use one computer at work, therfore my files are always saved locally. I save the files into a folder on my desktop and work from there until the project is finished. Only then do I send my dsb to our servers where it may be stored on another computer.

Running jobs from the windows desktop can often result in odd behaviour, especially in larger files. Try moving the DSB file to the "My Documents" folder or create a seperate folder on the C: drive.

Hi, thanks for the advice and the quick responses!
I've saved the file locally on the desktop, in the designbuilder data default folder in My Documents, and also into a separte folder on the C drive that i created. I've then closed designbuilder and loaded the dsb files from each of these locations and still the calculations are not working.
Thanks again for getting back...any more ideas?

We've just had more feedback from 2 DesignBuilder users having SBEM crashes and the solutions were: a) was to ensure that the building inspection date is entered correctly, b) avoid dsb file and folder names with commas.
So in summary the current advice to avoid SBEM 3.4.a crashes is:
- Get DesignBuilder v.2.0.1 which has an updated version of SBEM 3.4.a with a bug fix
- Avoid running SBEM calcs for dsb files stored on a network drive. Store your dsb files on the local c-drive.
- Don't store your files on the desktop (I haven't verified this causes problems, but report from Radcliffe47 suggests it can).
- Ensure inspection date is entered in YYYY-MM-DD format on project details tab of Model options dialog.
- Avoid commas in the filename or the folder where the dsb file is stored.
If you stilll get problems after following the above advice, I suggest you take a look in model.bdl in the SBEM folder which may give some insight into the error. You can open this file with a text editor.
We'll be adding checks to prevent most of the above problems for the next release due out soon.

Andy, thanks again for your help!!
The calculation is working perfectly now by removing the comma from the dsb file name!

Alex

| Yeah thanks for that. Removing the comma has worked. Glad I don't have to start that one again.

The release today of v.2.0.2.003 should resolve all of these issues. It includes BRE patches 1 and 2 plus fixes at our end allowing commas in filenames and files on remote network drives.

I do not know if the problem has now been fixed with 2.0.4.002 has fixed it or it was just my machine but this ran fine.

I'm on 2.0.2.003 and copying locally to short directory paths and DOS 8/3 filenames. All dates are in correct format.
Still got the same message:
SBEM Calculation Cancel or Error.
I thought it was a permissions issue with the SBEM folder in "C:\Program files\DesignBuilder" but haven't been able to diagnose this.

Do you use Teamviewer? I would be happy to have a look for you if that would help?
