Dear support Team!

I am testing the Designbuilder intensively. Can i model a inclined surface where the building is have in the ground and have above the surfache.

Please let me know, what i can do, because in Austria many sites will be realized on an inclined property.

Best regards

Robert

Dear Robert,

The series of images below illustrates how to place a block on an incline surface where there is no basement.

The reply below this shows how to do the equivalent but with a basement.

I hope this helps.

Regards
Andy

Then draw the lowest story of your actual building so that it touches the component or outline block representing the ground as shown below. The inclined plane itself is used to cut the actual building block in 2.

Here are some more images to help explain how to create basements when there is an inclined ground plane. The idea is to divide the block into two, the cutting plane used to divide the block is the plane of the inclined ground surface. The adjacencies in the lower block are set to 'Adjacent to ground'.

The lower and upper parts of the block can be joined to form a single zone by cutting a hole in the lower surface of the upper block and setting the 'Merge zones connected by holes' model option.

Hello,
Andy I am doing as Robert but I am having troubles.

I understand well your series of images. My problem is that when I have my cursor on a surface it's never lighting up in light blue, there I can never use the protactor appropriately to cut a surface.

I used DesignBuilder 3 years ago and never had this problem, everything went smoothly. I just had to redownload and buy it for my Master's thesis, I now have version 3.0 with all the exciting new features, but this problem is now occuring. I wanted to know if it's some kind of checkbox I forgot to click?

I'm persuaded it's a silly mistake , but went through the manual and still can't figure it out
