Air Change Effectiveness (ACE) calculations:
I am able to calculate my building floor’s “age of air” through a CFD simulation, but as soon as I try to calculate the ACE values, DesignBuilder crashes.
Is there a specific process I should be following in order to calculate the ACE values, or is this a general problem?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Edward,
We are aware of this problem and hopefully should be able to provide a fix for it within the next week or so.

Steve |

Has there been any progress in getting the Air Change Effectiveness calculations to work?
As soon as I enter a region for DB to calculate the ACE over, it crashes.
edit: Just updated my DB version and all seems well! |

Same question but problem is still in my latest version.
after inputting coordinates of the domain it does not response. could someone to explain this in detail how to input a region and get a result of ACE? thanks

Hi Joe,
You should find that the ACE calculation works okay in the current release (2.4.2.015) and beta versions (2.6.0.023). After conducting the LMA calculation for a domain that contains inflow/outflow boundaries, you should be able to add ACE regions to the domain and see the calculated ACE value displayed on the ACE dialog.
There is however a bug in both the current release and beta versions of the software that prevents ACE regions from being drawn. This bug has now been fixed and the fix will be available in the next release (following 2.4.2.015) and beta (following 2.6.0.023) versions.
If you still experience problems conducting the ACE calculation, perhaps you could upload a copy of your model (excluding CFD results) to the forum so we can take a look at it?
Regards,
Steve |
