Hello,
i'm cheking the calculation of mean radiant temperature with the cfd. Can i say how Design Builder calculates the view factor?
Does it use Fanger model?
Thank you
Rosaria

Hi Rosaria,

DB CFD uses a numerical integration method to determine view factors.

Hello!
In the calculation of the mean radiant temperature does DB consider the solar radiation which strikes directly the person (I mean the solar radiation entering through the windows)? Or does it consider only the temperatures of the surrounding surfaces (opaque surfaces and windows)?
With Regards

P.S.: my question regards not only CFD

Hello,

EnergyPlus does take incident solar energy into account when calculating surface temperatures. Consequently, if you import the results of an EnergyPlus simulation into a CFD project to be used as boundary conditions, incident solar energy will be accounted for in the calculation of mean radiant temperatures.

Regards,

Steve
