We are currently testing our new version using SBEM 3.5.b and will release it in the next few days. The current version can continue to be used until mid-January 2011.

Hi Andy, I've received notification from BRE that 3.5a won't be accepted after 17th, only 3.5b.
Can you confirm that I can definitely continue to lodge to BRE with DB running 3.5a after the 17th?
I have a number of large jobs 'on the go' at present and don't want them languishing in a previous version until you bring out 3.5b.
Thanks

Hi Paul,
The full text we received from BRE goes:
| Quote: | iSBEM_v3.5.a will be superseded on 17th December 2010. From that day no more XML files will be generated with iSBEM_v3.5.a and users will be required to upgrade to iSBEM_v3.5.b.
SBEM_v3.5.a will be still operational for third party vendors until 15th January 2010. By then we would expect all third party software tools to have been updated to use SBEM_v3.5.b. To note the new version can potentially just be plugged in an old 3.5.a system and it would work fine (i.e. No much development is required). |
So you can definitely continue to use SBEM 3.5.a in DesignBuilder until 15th Jan 2011.
We've completed our implementation of SBEM 3.5.b but there seems to be an issue about getting it approved as the testers AECOM are still waiting for funding from CLG. A most unsatisfactory situation. Of course we'll let you know as soon as we are able to submit our test files for approval.

We still haven't heard back from the testers and I'm getting rather concerned about what's going on. I've drafted a strongly worded email to CLG and AECOM to make it clear that these delays are not acceptable. I'll hopefully have better news by this time tomorrow.

Not yet and so I've sent an email to CLG to complain about the terrible service and also to request that SBEM 3.5.a have its life extended to allow time for the new version to be approved and accreditation schemes and Landmark to be notified.
From our point of view this situation is completely unacceptable and I can only apologise to you and any other DesignBuilder SBEM users who are being inconvenienced by the uncertainty caused by these delays. I will of course let you know as soon as we have any news.

Thanks for your efforts Andy, lets hope they get this sorted soon, luckily coming at a quieter time of year for us.

I've tried emailing and phoning AECOM, CLG and now BRE but still no response from anyone. Not sure what more I can do... maybe banging my head on the wall will be more help!!

We've finally heard from CLG that they will be postponing the cut off for SBEM 3.5.a until at least 22 January to allow the testers to get the approvals process finished. This means that you can continue using DesignBuilder SBEM v2.3.5 for EPCs until then. We'll send out a newsletter with this info this afternoon.

DB v2.3.6 (SBEMv3.5.b) was approved for UK EPCs on 17th Jan and is now (unofficially) approved in Eire. The SEAI website should shortly be updated to reflect this.
