Operative temperature with CFD analysis

Hello,

I did a CFD comfort analysis and got much higher operative temperatures compared to the HVAC simulation. How is the operative temperature calculated in the cfd comfort analysis? Is it also the mean value between radiant temperatures and air temperatures?

Hello Birgit,

DB CFD uses the CIBSE definition of operative temperature as shown on the attached. When the air velocity is in the order of 0.1 m/s, this equation reduces to the arithmetic mean of air temperature and mean radiant temperature.

Hello Steve,

thank you for your reply, in my model the air velocity was not high enough, so I got too high operative tempertures.

An other question: If I import the simulation data from the E+ simulation, how are internal gains from occupancy or lighting taken into account in the CFD analysis?
