Dear All,
I have recieved two questions from my supervisor and I think that I’m pretty sure about Design Builder deals with this, but I’m open for more suggestions. Especially when it comes to importing 3D-drawings to Design builder.
The questions are:
1. What is the best method to import IFC into designbuilder and what problems can we expect?
When importing a 3D drawing into Design Builder it asks for a .gbXML file. There is another type of files, IFC, that are also being used in the industry. Can these be converted, or the #d drawing that we need to import have to be in gbXML format?
Any problems that usually comes up when importing 3D-drawings?
2.
How does design builder (energy plus) calculate natural ventilation or infiltration?
Our experience is that you have to take into account:
-wind velocity and direction
- Internal thermal
- type of hvac system
- air tightness of buildings climate shell
I’ve read the documents in Knowledgebase on the website about this, and from what I’ve tried in the program it deals with all of these as long as the right choices are made in the options dialog.
Is there any of these that might be a problem in Design Builder?
All comments on these topics are welcome!
