Hello!
I’m a student and I’m working with DB 1.2.2.002.
To position the different layers of “external floor” and “ground floor”, I refer to the “image”, which is available in “edit construction”.
There the “outer surface” is portrayed as the upper surface. Is it really so?
For the “Internal floor” is it correct to consider as upper surface the “outer surface”?
Now in “visualise” the colours are wrong. Are the colours of “visualise” reliable?
With regards

Hello Andfranz,

You have 3 cases:
a) external floor, the upper layer is the outside layer so in this case the lowest one. External floor is for example a 1st floor larger than the ground floor.

b) ground floor, the upper layer is also the outside layer. Outside means here in contact with outside environment so in contact with earth.

c) intermediate floor have no outside/inside concept, the layers ordering is done from bottom to top.

Of course, for roof, upper layer will be also the outside one.

Regards,
Laurent

Currently using the latest version 1.4.0.044 and came across a problem that fits in this 'older' topic.

I've defined an internal floor as in the quote (bottom to top). When i give the top (in this case: parket) a color from a material, i see it in 'Visualise' as bottom.
Kinda wondering if this is a problem in the visualisation of internal floors, rather than the wrong side is counted in for a zone and i get wrong results for the zone above and beneath. This could give some difference when using materials with a lot thermic mass...

Thx in advance,
Hans

Hello,

Could you attach your dsb file for further investigations?

Thank you,
Laurent

When the Separate constructions mode is set, internal floor slabs are displayed 'upside down' on the visualise tab.

As you suspected, the construction layers are passed through to EnergyPlus for simulation in the correct order.

We will fix the visualisation display for the next release.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
