|
|
Hello
I've noticed that in the new versions of DB since 1.4 the site orientation is not considered in the building wall orientations. Is it just in my DB or is it a bug?
The walls still change their orientation but always stick to the nearest N/S/E/W axis.
Ex: If I define the site as on a 233º orientation the wall that was suposed to be at 233º is at 270º.
This happens with buildings made on DB 1.4 or in older ones from the moment they are converted to this version.
Best Regards
LCabanita

Hello LCabanita,
Do you speak of wall orientation you see in the Navigator ?
If it is the case, it is not a bug. This orientation is done in respect to the X/Y axes, the coordinate system shown by colored lines.
You can then orbit the North of all the site going to Site level and Location tab.
You can display the North arrow on the layout screen to check your orientation.
Regards,
Laurent

No Laurent, i am speaking about the real orientation that DB sends to E+, the one we can see in the left-hand bar in the surface description.
I send 2 attachments to explain the situation:
The first is the Site options screen, showing the selected real orientation, 233º.
The second one shows the layout screen. At a first glance it looks OK, the arrow shows the real North and the walls are correct in relation to that.
Taking a better look, as you can see in the left-hand bar, the selected wall is defined as having a North orientation (0º), when the real North is shown at the layout pointing to the lower right corner of the screen.
Being 0º could make us thing it is a partition/wall definition error in DB, as all partitions are sent to E+ with a 0º orientation, but with walls facing NE, SE, etc it happens the same thing, all are assumed to be facing 0º, 90º, 180 or 270º.
Thanks in advance for the help

Hi Andy
Thanks for the fast resolution of the problem.
There is still a little problem that needs to be fixed, the orientation now updates with the site location, but when the direction is superior to 360º it doesn't subtract the 360.
Ex. in attachment:
Site Orientation: 296º
With a 296º orientation the wall that was facing East (90º) is now expected to be facing 26º, but it is facing 386º (360+26).
This way I now have orientations of 566, 476, etc..
Thank you again for your brief resolutions.
Best Regards
LCabanita

This bug has already been fixed at our end and a new version will be released either today or tomorrow.
Please be aware that the incorrect display of surface orientation in the navigator and in the comments in the idf data does not mean that E+ results are wrong. The site orientation is included in the results through the global orientation modifier 'North Axis'.
The bug affects a) display in navigaor, b) comments in idf and c) SBEM orientations only.
