|
|
Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a way in the detailed HVAC to have a fan coil unit with only a cooling coil? It doesn't appear that I am able to remove the heating coil from the unit when I add it to my zone?
I know I can turn it off in my availability schedule but I will still need to connect the heating coil to the HW loop to avoid errors.
It would be great if I was able to remove the heating coil completely.
Is there a way?
Thanks for your time on this.

Hi Celia,
FCU must have a heating coil so there is no way to do this in DB. As you say, simply add a hot water loop and set the availability schedule for heating to be off.

** Severe ** GetFanCoilUnits: ZoneHVAC:FourPipeFanCoil="GROUNDFLOOR:EOL%TST100KE.PRMTR FAN COIL UNIT", invalid
** ~~~ ** illegal value: Heating Coil Object Type="COIL:HEATING:ELECTRIC".
above is an example of error |

Are you using a recent version of DB? I mean v3.0.0.104 or later? If not could you try upgrading? If this doesn't help then please send your dsb file to the DesignBuilder support desk for us to check.

my DB version is v3.0.0.105 when my errors occur..
and yes these is the same project has in the other thread..
"Adding FCUs to zone group generate errors pls help"
also my zone group has 3 components, consisting of an ADU(direct air), Extract air and FCU(note: heating is electric and coiling is water with chillers and cooling tower), which is supplied via AHU (also with cooling via CW & CT, but no heating). simulating with errors. |

Hi,
I'm trying to model a fancoil system only a cooling coil. As we cannot exclude the heating coil from the fancoil unit and instead of modeling the heating coil and set it to not operate, Can I model the system as an airloop system?
Regards,
Fabiano |

Hi Fabiano,
FCU are zone systems and cannot serve multiple zones but you could probably set up a generic air loop with AHU system that provided similar conditioning.

ok! Thanks Andy.
So every time that I've a got a FCU serving more than one zone I have to model the system with an Airloop system?
