Hi!

I am getting the following error when I try to model a VAV terminal box with a VSD fan.

During AirTerminal:SingleDuct:VAV:Reheat:VariableSpeedFan Input, Invalid Component Name input=ANDARTIPO04:ESCRITORIOINTERNO SINGLE DUCT VAV REHEAT VS FAN 1 SUPPLY FAN
** ~~~ ** Component type=FAN:VARIABLEVOLUME
** ~~~ ** In AirTerminal:SingleDuct:VAV:Reheat:VariableSpeedFan = ANDARTIPO04:ESCRITORIOINTERNO SINGLE DUCT VAV REHEAT VS FAN 1

So it seems to have a problem with the connection between the VAV supply fan in the AHU and the VSD fan in the terminal. Am I interpreting correctly?
If I go to change the AHU fan to Constant Volume it won't make this input available.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Celia

Celia,

Have you tried reducing the length of the block and zone names to see if that helps? I just wonder if you are running into E+ name size limits of some sort?

If not could you send the dsb file?

I will try and reduce the names for the blocks and zones. I have attached the file for your review!

Thanks!
Celia

Celia,

We've had a good look at your model and found a couple of things:

a) There is a problem with DB where the Plant equipment operation "Scheme Operation Type" is not set. This is caused by a versioning problem where DB has failed to translate correctly from an old format to the new format. You can solve this by manually changing the Scheme Operation Type in the chilled water and condensor loop dialogs back the original settings.

b) If you make the fix desribed in a) and re-simulate you will come across a whole new lot of errors which seem to be related to using an electric heating coil in the variable speed fan ADUs instead of a water coil. We have requested help from E+ support on this and will let you know when we hear back.

It turns out to be an E+ problem with using electric heating coils in the variable speed fan ADUs and their developers are aiming to get a fix into E+ v7 which is due for release very soon.

In the meantime can you use water heating coils?
