Dear all,

How do you fellow DesignBuilderers model buildings with local shading components such as overhangs and louvres?

I know that component blocks are not considered when running daylight calculations. So instead of using component blocks I use local shading components. The problem is that even though I can change the material specifications, designbuilder counts all local shading as 100% opaque. That means that the daylight calculations can't be trusted when using shading at all, since some daylight will go through the materials in real life if it's made of some fabric that let's sunlight through it.

How do you all deal with these kind of questions??

Mattias,

Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to correct something you wrote in your question. Actually component blocks are considered in daylighting calculations. This includes both interior and exterior component blocks.

Also local shading devices such as overhangs and louvres are included.
