Hello,
I have been trying DB in two test files (very simple models only for me to work my way into the software). Here are the problems I still couldn't solve (not even after reading the Help files):
- I put exterior shading in the windows (habitação teste_alternativo 1.dbf) but it doesn't seem to be working (high glazing gains in the summer). Has this anything to do with schedules?
- I can't seem to "get rid" of active cooling, in both models. In spite of unchecking everything related to (active) cooling in the HVAC tab, it still results in cooling energy consumption. I even tried to include active cooling but setting the CoP to zero, having received exactly the same result.
- I have modified the exterior walls, from habitação teste_corrente.dbf to habitação teste_alternativo 1.dbf (U=0,726W/m2ºC to U=0,513W/m2ºC) but this doesn't seem to have much influence on the energy exchange of the walls in the results
- Presently it seems that the only way to get DB to assume modifications is by creating custom Templates and loading these templates in the model, each time a modification in intended. Wouldn't it be easier to allow for direct changes in settings in the opened file/model (this way one wouldn't have to create a different template each time one needs to include a modification)?
Probably these questions are pretty basic and have all been answered before, but I read through part of the posts (they are so many that I admit not having read all of them) and found no answers to these problems.
Thanks for your attention,
André Coelho
p.s. - My version of DB: 1.2.2.002

In habitação teste_corrente.dbf, you have not unchecked the 'Cooled' option at zone level in HVAC tab (you have to select the 'piso 0' zone, not block in the Navigation tree).
The file habitação teste_alternativo 1.dbf is not correctly uploaded...

Thank you for your help. It works well now.
However, I assumed (I read it in the Help information) that, once you chose a Template (for HVAC, as an example) at the Block Level, then DB will replicate the information at each zone level. I don't understand why I have to load the Template for each zone, when it is supposed to be an hierarchical system.
Best regards,
André Coelho

When you load a template at block level it is loaded at zone level for its correspondent zones. When you change anything at that block level it is automatically changed at zone level for all the zones. When you make a change in a parameter at zone level (it becomes red coloured), subsequent changes of that parameter at block level won't change that value at that zone level while a change in any of the rest untouched parameters at block level will, as before, change the value at zone level.
I don't know if I have made it clearer. Its a hierarchical behaviour until you modify a parameter in the hierarchy, making that parameter independent from its parent.

Yes, I understand (I need more practice, though).
About the other problems I posted: do you have any idea on how to solve them? (I'll send the habitação teste_alternativo 1.dbf file, this time)
Thanks,
André C.

| You have to wait until de file is completely uploaded. As you can see your file is 0Kb so you have to try to send it again.

I can´t seem to be able to upload the file (habitação teste_alternativo 1.dsb, which is ~2Mb). It always returns 0kb size (no matter how much time I wait)...
If you send me your email adress, I'll send it to you directly.
Best regards,
André C.
