hi!
i think i have some problems with the building that i am simulating in design builder...
when i run the simulation appears a fatal error saying this:
"Program Version,EnergyPlusDLL 1.2.3.031, 06/05/2006 15.15,IDD_Version 1.2.3.031[/i] ** Warning ** Solar transmittance = 0.0 for material __VENT MATERIAL

i have no idea about what i wrong in my file and moreover this text that appears is not properly helpful...
can someone please help me?
thanks in advance!
elena.
PS:the attached file is the one that has this error...
maybe it's easier for you to understand what's wrong with it...

Hi,
Your model simulates fine using the latest version of DesignBuilder on our computers so I would recommend installing 1.1.1.006 (or later) on your computer to see if it fixes the problem.
The error messages you saw are generated by EnergyPlus and so will not mean anything to you unless you have experience working directly with EnergyPlus.
Regards
Andy

They mean to me that i cannot simulate the building...
so i cannot check energy loss and gains.
or maybe there is another way to simulate it even if the calculation stops?
because i downloaded the latest version and i still have the same problem... i really cannot understand why..

It looks like this problem is caused by a failure to correctly install EnergyPlus, so please try the following:
1. Open up the EnergyPlus folder (File | Folders | EnergyPlus)
2. Delete all of the files in that folder.
3. Try simulation again.
This will force DesignBuilder to reinstall EnergyPlus. You should then find that DesignBuilder uses the latest version of EnergyPlus which hopefully will fix your problem.

dear andy, sorry for disturbing again but i tried to do what you wrote and it didn't solve my problem. maybe it's because i am using the trial version?
anyway now, working with another big building and trying to simulate it it happened something new. it came out a new window from energyplus saying that there was no more space of the "stack". this means that even if it doesn't recognise any problem there is not enough place to run the simulation?and moreover, place where?because my computer is quite good..i don't think it's a matter of the ram...
i was working in my university with the previous version and it was not creating problems, i don't know why now after downloading the new one i am facing so many of them.
by the way i attached the file of the other building too.
thanks again for the help.
elena.

We have had a look at your second large building model and found two separate problems:
1. Simulations do not complete. The latest version of EnergyPlus gives the out of stack error message while the previous version allows you to carry out heating design calculations but just hangs if you attempt a simulation using real weather data. I will be requesting help from the EnergyPlus support desk to resolve this problem.
2. Some of the partitions do not connect cleanly (see pictures below). We are looking at this now but haven't been able to work out how the partitions came to be set up in this way. Can you remember how you created these partitions?
I will let you know when there is more information.

dear andy,
first of all many many thanks for your help!
it seems that i am giving u a lot of work...sorry!
anyway i remember very well the creation of that internal partition, i was trying several times to draw it and it was all the time impossible. the last thing i did was to create a longer wall and then delete the part in excess...and it came out that strange connection..
thanks again!
i will wait for your news!
elena.

Elena,
We have now traced and fixed the bugs you encountered with your two large models and will include the fixes in the new release of DesignBuilder version 1.2. We will be providing a beta test prerelease of this soon.
Best regards
Andy
