|
|
I am modelling a house designed for solar orientation. It has a sunspace on the south face. The sunspace windows are open in summer (to prevent overheating) and closed in winter (I've used a schedule for this).
There are french windows between the main building and the sunspace. I want these to
1- open in summer if internal temperature is above cooling set point and it is cooler in the sunspace than indoors (i.e. night cooling)
2- open in winter if internal temperature is below heating set point and it is warmer in the sunspace than indoors (i.e. winter solar heating).
Is there a way of making this happen? Reading the manual suggests that 1 above is possible but not clear if possible to do 2 as well?
Thanks

Hello,
I presume your sunspace is a block adjacent to your zones.
I think you could do this by setting the natural ventilation setpoint (and delta T if you use scheduled natural ventilation).
Go first in your zone then to the activity tab and Ventilation setpoints heading.
The natural ventilation setpoint you will set, will be the aimed temperature (not guaranteed) the zone will try to reach using only air.
The problem I see is that this is a general behavior. If the zone adjacent to the sunspace has other windows opening on the outside, the natural ventilation could also comes from them (if required conditions are met)!
To finish, their is only one setpoint at the moment for natural ventilation. If you need a summer setpoint different from the winter setpoint, you will need to run two simulations, one for the summer, one for the winter.
Hope this is helpful.

Laurent,
So if I set a ventilation setpoint will it be programmed to open windows when necessary for both scecnarios?, i.e.
- to bring the temperature DOWN to the setpoint in summer if sunspace air is cooler than indoor and above setpoint e.g. night cooling
- to bring the temperature UP to the setpoint in winter if the sunspace air is warmer than indoor and below setpoint e.g. passive solar heating?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Bobby,
I think it will even if I must confess I never use it in winter to bring up internal temperature.
If your model is ready could you try a winter week only?
Any feed back will be welcome!
