Dear Support-Team,
I have some questions concerning HVAC Templates and the way DesignBuilder uses EnergyPlus.
1) What is the source or definition of how much auxiliary energy is given by the HVAC Templates when using the HVAC Simple mode?
2) What is the source or definition of the COPs used in all HVAC Templates?
3) DesignBuilder provides the HVAC Templates “Underfloor heating” and “Fan Coil Unit”. Is there any special reason why both systems are modelled in EnergyPlus using “FanCoilUnit:4Pipe” (Model Options: HVAC Compact)? I checked the IDF File DesignBuilder created.
4) Will DesignBuilder be enhanced to use further EnergyPlus options, ground coupled heat pumps e.g.?
Thanks! Your help is greatly appreciated. |

Hello,
I can't answer to your two first questions. I'm not working on default templates.
But for 3), Underfloor heating is now an approach as a convective heating. In version 2, the floor/ceiling heating will be modeled accurately. By now there is no simple solution to integrate underfloor heating (with Compact HVAC, for in Simple HVAC you can use another approach with radiant heating).
And to answer to your 4th question, yes many enhancements will be available once v2 will bring system modelisation into DesignBuilder. Heat pumps will be added after a first v2 release.
Regards,
Laurent |
