Does anybody have any tips for DXF export?
I've had a few crashes with it, so I guess some memory register is going out of range when I export. The model I want to export is quite big: 3000m2 single storey, heavily partitioned. deleting all the partitions works but I want to keep some for daylight analysis in an external program.
Any tips?
Also, is DB going to refine this useful little export tool so my modest (1 gig ram) doesn't baulk when exporting in future?

Could you upload your model file to the forum so that we can try and figure out what's causing the problem? Also, can you let us know which export mode you are selecting - full model or zonal geometry.
Regards,
Steve

A radiance file export option is on the wish list for EnergyPlus.

My feeling is that designbuilder is closer in it's coding to had rad export functionality. For example, the dxf export from energyplus doesn't triangulate the meshes around windows, effectively leaving the windows blanked by the wall construction.
DB does triangulate wall constructions around windows, mullions, transoms, etc. when exporting to dxf. I'm no coder, but am certain it's no big step to export these same 3d faces with reflectance, colour, specularity, etc data attached.

As you say DB already has the detailed geometry, textures etc so it would make sense for us to do this. We do have plans for a Radiance export option from DesignBuilder hopefully for next year.

Hi Chris,
We have found a bug that was causing the problems that you were running into with the DXF export facility. It has now been fixed and the fix will be available in the next beta version (versions 1.5.0.62 and later).
