Trying to use the Silicon Graphics Software OpenGL driver from, ftp dot meer dot net / pub / gold / sgi-opengl / opengl2.exe with DesignBuilder on Microsoft Windows XP.

The DesignBuilder documentation (help, support forums, knowledgebase) do not appear to indicate the existence of any options which we can use to set the OpenGL driver which DesignBuilder uses. We want to use the SGI driver in lieu of the installed NVIDIA one.

Why use a software driver when we can use the hardware one? We are currently testing with a view with getting DesignBuilder to work in a virtualised environment (Windows 2000 guest in vmware on a Linux host) which doesnt afford the luxury of hardware OpenGL acceleration.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I'm also trying to make DB work with an ATI FireGL V3600 unsuccessfully.
I wonder why there is no option to select hardware OpenGL acceleration instead of software one.

Is there any chance future versions of DB will let us choose hardware OpenGL acceleration?

Thanks,

Damien

I don't have any info on this but we find that DB runs fine on vmware running Windows 2000 without any additional drivers when the host is also windows. Do you need the sgi driver because the host computer is running linux? Have you tried without the sgi driver?

Andy
