Hi Andy,

About simple and compact HVAC options:

Why in compact menu there are fewer options to set the system (e.g.: in simple mode it’s possible to set system’s efficiency, heating type. Instead in compact mode don’t)?

If you had a 2 pipe fan-coil system, what would be your approach to simulate it in DB?

Hi Miguel,

There are some options in simple HVAC mode that don't exist in compact HVAC, but generally there is more detail in the modelling in compact HVAC. The main option that exists in simple HVAC mode only is the ability to use radiant heating with operative temperature control. This does not exist in compact HVAC yet, but will exist when EnergyPlus version 1.4 is released.

You can define system efficiencies in compact HVAC, but this is always done at the building level, whereas for simple HVAC it can be done at the same level as well.

We have not yet implemented compact HVAC fancoil units, but will do so as soon as possible. This will provide much more detail in the fancoil modelling capability of DesignBuilder.
