Hi Andy,
A small feedback about Survey Data Editor:
It seems to be very useful!
I’ve tested it in a case where I don’t have equipment and lighting mixed with systems.
I didn’t understand yet how to deal with every thing at the same time, especially when the information is imported to DB.
Some doubts
1-How can I define a main occupancy schedule of this kind: 9:30-13:00 and 14:30-19:00 (consider 0% occupancy in lunch time, 100% the rest of the time)?
2- When importing data to DB, there’s no information on radiant fraction, latent fraction, and fraction heat lost. This should be left like this or adjusted by me?
3-In buildings with heating, cooling and ventilation attached to the same meter, the systems should be input in Survey Data Editor?
If yes,
They should also be imported to DB?
They should be conserved in the equipment chart or deleted from it?
If no,
What will be the relation with HVAC inputs?
2 observations
1-When importing data to DB, the occupancy is changed to a strange value.
2-Iif you click the edit selected equipment button, in DB, the value of radiant fraction changes automatically.
Best regards,
Miguel |

Hi Miguel,
I'm glad to hear you find the Survey Data Editor useful. It is good you are using it in a case that has equipment and lighting metered separately from HVAC systems as this simplifies things.
Regarding your doubts:
1. It is not yet possible to define an occupancy schedule of the type you mention using the Survey Data Editor, though we should be able to make some changes to allow it. I would recommend entering a schedule which has the same number of hours each day as your actual schedule to allow the calibration process to work accurately. Then in DesignBuilder you could edit the schedule to give the lunchtime break.
2. I have noticed problems when the Survey Data Editor is used with decimal separator = "," (typically with Continental European settings). This is because the Survey Data Editor should export numeric data in DesignBuilder native format using "." as the decimal separator, but at the moment uses "," with Continental European regional settings. Does this explain the behaviour you have been experiencing?
3. Generally I would recommend entering only equipment and lighting data in the Survey Data Editor. Clearly this will only work if you have separate equipment/lighting and HVAC system meter readings.
Regarding your observations:
1. Could you please send me your data including dsb file and the folder containing the sv*.dat files so that I can try to reproduce the problem?
2. I also get this problem if I use Continental European regional settings so I wonder whether switching to UK settings might solve it.
Many thanks for the feedback,
Andy |
