Dear Steve,
Please find attached the most recent version of our building model including the imminent error.
In our present project we are trying to obtain a 8760-hour cooling and heating load for an exsiting building in order to merge the results with a customized system model calibrated for ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2004.
Thus, we require the hourly annual loads for each zone totaling up to 136 zones.
A major error occured using the latest beta release of DB (1.2.0.026) and the mandatory energy+ version (1.3.0.022) within the amount of computable zones provided by the objects 'ZONE SPLITTERS', 'ZONE MIXERS', 'BRANCH LIST', 'SPLITTER' and 'MIXER'. The default amount ranged from 50 up to 100 field entries, thus insufficient for our building (136 zones). Editing the 'Energy+.idd' file as suggested by Energy+ yielded the expansion of the computing capabilities and elimination of the error.
However, after rerunning the simulation, another error occured, whereas I am slightly desperate what its origin might be.
Please find attached:
building model: 'LLTC_beta_v2_3.dsb'
edited/expanded 'Energy+.idd' file: 'Energy+.zip'
I was not able to upload the error message, given its small size, I'll post it below as follows.
"Program Version,EnergyPlusDLL 1.3.0.022, 8/30/2006 5:02 AM,IDD_Version 1.3.0.022
** Severe ** Object=BRANCH LIST, name=AHU BRANCHES, Required Field=[Branch Name 101] was blank.

** Severe ** Object=BRANCH LIST, name=CHILLED WATER LOOP CHW SUPPLY SIDE BRANCHES, Required Field=[Branch Name 101] was blank.
** Severe ** Object=BRANCH LIST, name=CHILLED WATER LOOP CHW DEMAND SIDE BRANCHES, Required Field=[Branch Name 101] was blank.
** Warning ** Note -- Some missing fields have been filled with defaults. See the audit output file for details.
** Severe ** Possible incorrect IDD File
** ~~~ ** IDD Version:"IDD_Version 1.3.0.022"
** ~~~ ** Possible Invalid Numerics or other problems
** Fatal ** Errors occurred on processing IDF file. Preceding condition(s) cause termination."
I appreciate your feedback and support.
Best regards,
Sandro Plamp

Dear Sandro,
Having spoken to Andy concerning this problem, he advised me that there is a file included in the Program Files\DesignBuilder\Data folder called 'Replacement IDD Objects.txt' that contains a list of all object definitions that should replace those same object definitions within the Energy+.idd file included in the DesignBuilder EnergyPlus folder. Perhaps you could check that you've correctly replaced all of these listed definitions and if not re-run the simulation after making the appropriate edits.
Regards
Steve

Dear Steve,
First of all, thank you very much for your immediate response.
This is fantastic, the file you've mentioned already contains an expansion of the numerous objects that I needed so desperately.
Also, I double checked my previous editing of the 'Energy+.idd' file and found a slight syntax mistake in the object 'BRANCH LIST', which corrected allowed me to successfully proceed with the simulation.
When I'm looking at the humongous Energy+ files generated by the building model, let me tell you that DesignBuilder is a fantastic product. I could not imagine (not in the world) producing the thousands of lines of Energy+ code on my own. I'm even more excited about the future CFD implementation, which justifies and strengthen DesignBuilder's rank among professional and serious building energy modeling products.
Again, a superb product and I thank you very much for all your effort.
Keep up the good work,
Sandro Plamp
