hallo support team,
1- how can I put the local shading objects in front of the holes? (putting them in front of the windows is ok)
2- how can I draw windows with fixed height and width?
3- how can I move objects like partition or windows in a precise direction and with a specific misure?
(I'm using the freedownload program)

thanks for your help
elisa

Hello Elisa,

1. There is no way of putting the automatically generated shading devices in front of holes, though you can draw Component blocks to do this shading in versions 1.0.2 and later. However you should be aware that holes do not transmit solar radiation and you may want to consider using a single glazed clear window with 100% opening if you need a hole which transmits solar radiation. This will also allow you to use automatically generated shading devices.

2. There is an option on the Openings tab to allow fixed height and width Windows to be automatically generated, or you can go to the surface level and draw Windows of any shape or dimension. Please refer to the program online help for more information on how to do this. Search for 'Draw window'.

3. It sounds like you are trying to move objects a particular distance. There is no command in DesignBuilder to specifically do this, though in practice you should find that the available snaps will allow you to position building objects with the required accuracy. Please take a look at the on-line help for 'Snaps, drawing guides and protractor' and if this does not help let me know with a specific example and I will try to help.

Regards
Andy

A quick update... in DesignBuilder version 1.0.2 holes do transmit solar radiation. Holes are now modelled as clear Windows with an air flow path (Calculated natural ventilation) or mixing (internal holes with Scheduled natural ventilation).
