In the latest version of DB you cannot now look at the data that makes up a library component in the model. I believe this is a mistake because you can't tell what you are putting into your model now unless you go the component, make a copy of it and then look at the data there. Please change this back to the way it was as it makes modelling a whole lot more difficult again.

Could you please explain the change you are referring to?

Thanks,

Andy

In previous versions (before 32) you could look at the data for a locked library component e.g. when you were choosing a construction the edit component data tooltip was not blanked out so you could press it and see the data for that construction. Now it does not allow that. Even on the components tab you cannot see the data for a library component so you have to make a copy of it first so it becomes a model component.

I am also finding that when I copy library components into the model it is often making doubles of the user components e.g. it is not recognising the same name and overwriting it. Then when you try to edit one it tells you the name is already in use. Of course I then delete the other one but it is a bug.

Thanks for pointing out these issues - I have now changed the way data import works in accordance with your suggestions. New release including these changes should be available early next week.

Now in the latest version (41) the option to copy a model component to library has gone. It took me a while to work out that you can do it with the export library data option and then import the data to the libraries but this is not at all obvious and the previous way of doing it was better (when it works).

Also with this method I am still getting the problem of it not overwriting identical components so I end up with doubles.

Yes 'copy components to library' has gone temporarily while we make the new version 1.2 beta test database management system more reliable. We will reintroduce it in a future version.

The problem with repeated components when importing model data to the component library should now be fixed. I'll try to put an a new beta test update on the website tomorrow.

Thanks for your help with this,

Andy
