Have a look at the following graph. WHy are the Fanger values for PMV so much lower than the others? I have noticed this in other models too.

I don't know enough about the relative differences between the various comfort indices to be able to answer this. Can anyone else help?

Hi Rankoromane,

Possible reasons:

Fanger PMV is indexed to operative temperature and not to Dry Bulb Temperature.

If you're calculating Fanger PMV considering occupied and unoccupied periods you’ll get lower values. You can check it in hourly or sub-hourly simulations.
You can setup the simulation just for occupied periods in Model options – simulation – output – zone environmental and comfort reports – just occupied periods.

Hope this helps,

Miguel

Thanks for the responses. I have also posted a similar question on the eplus forum but so far there is no response. The clothing value is 0.5 for summer clothing. Of course occupancy must affect it and I have just realised that activity level for the area I am showing is sleeping and occupancy is only at night so that would explain it being a bit low but what I still don't understand is the difference between Fanger and the others. As I understand it they are all formulae fitted to a large amount of experimental data so you would expect them to be at least within a point of each other. I did look at another area of normal daytime activity and occupancy and there Fanger was still lower but by 1-1.5 points from the rest, which still seems high to me.
