Hi,

How do the autosizing values relate to the figures given in the Heating/Cooling design function?

I am trying to use Design Builder to estimate the required a/c capacity for a building. In many of the simple models I have run in the past it is possible to see autosized values by first choosing 3-Autosize, and then changing to 2-Manual - the result is that the autosized capacity is filled in on the HVAC tab under Heating/Cooling capacity (kW). However, the model I am currently simulating does not do this (any ideas why? possibly as it is set to Compact HVAC?).

Either way, I was hoping to be able to interpret the Heating/Cooling design outputs in order to estimate a/c sizing. From the tests I have run, there seems to be no direct correlation between the autosized value and either Design Capacity or Total Cooling Load.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Seb

I have changed the HVAC to simple, and the Natural Ventilation to Scheduled and the autosized Heating and Cooling capacities have been filled in when switch to manual. However, it would still be useful to know how these relate to the Heating and Cooling Design output figures.

Thanks in advance,
Seb
