|
|
Dear Team and other experienced members,
I need some help in correlating the results between E+ and Designbuilder. The E+ results for annual cooling and heating energy (from the report ABUPS) are way higher than DB Chiller (electricity) results. I read the description - calculation of Designbuilder output from EnergyPlus report variable but still could not find the relation between E+ ABUPS cooling energy and chiller (electricity). What exactly is the Cooling Load corresponding to the Cooling energy consumption of ABUPS - which I can divide by COP. Or, in other words what is DB equivalent of total annual cooling energy, if any. Which cooling energy (or heating energy) I should use as my output. Any example would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from the experts..
The heating/cooling load from the heating/cooling design also do not exactly match with loads in .eio file..
thanks a ton,
John |

Hello John,
The first step is to check the help page that explains how DB calculates the results data it displays from E+ eso output data.
http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/programhelp/calculation_of_designbuilder_output_from_energyplus_report_variables.htm
Bear in mind that DB calculates plant energy consumption internally based on heating and cooling coil loads in the E+ eso output file. The data in the ABUPS report will use different boiler and chiller CoP values and does not include distribution losses included by DB.

Andy,
Thanks for the clarification. It is a bit clear to me
though I would rephrase the question here - what would be the equivalent variables for Chiller (Electricity) and Heat generation (Gas) from .eso reort?
I am also not sure what do you mean by "The data in the ABUPS report will use different boiler and chiller CoP values .... " Does it mean that these values of COPs are different than the one I enter under HVAC tab? If yes, where does that COP come from?
You guys are awesome in responding to the questions. I truely apprecaite your help..
John. |
