Hi,i have some questions
question 1:
If i edit the DesignBuilder input in IDF, can I then analyze the results back in DesignBuilder?

question 2:
when i export the idf file(in.idf) some of the hvac options are listed with comments as shown in the attached file. How this affect my calculations?

question 3:what i am trying to do is to modify the idf file in order to have 2 different heating consumption fuels, oil and electricity, because my building has wall mounted airconditioning and central radiator as well.If there is no possible to modify the idf file ,could you please tell me an idea how to simulate this?

Hello Katerina,

Q1: no DesignBuilder will re-generate the idf file, you can't import back idf into DesignBuilder.
But you can edit the idf, run the simulation then see the outputs with DesignBuilder (if you don't change the zone and surfaces from the idf of course).

Q2: if you're speaking of Compact systems in comments. This is normal, DB generate the Compact systems you've selected, then EnergyPlus engine translate them in detailed systems. During this process Compact systems are set in comments to let you have a look to them without impacting simulation (detailed systems will).

Q3: I don't any easy way to achieve this for you will need to create a Unitary system for each zone and a plant description. However you can generate a building model with DB then add the Compact systems by hand.
I think UNITARY system is what you need.

Laurent
