|
|
Hello,
I'm working with version 1.3 and I'm facing some problems, namely the inability to simulate (the model does not finish runnning, giving out severe errors) a naturally ventilated underground car park. This model, however runs normally in version 1.4 (my collegue's trial version). However, I just tried to download it but the page won't open, so I'm a bit desperate. I have a purchaced DB key.
In the v1.4 program, I'm experiencing problems with the minimum outside air requirements, when using the VAV HVAC system. While in v1.3, in the Activity tab, the minimum fresh air requirement was only defined in l/s.oc (and it was ok with me), now it also presents a value for mechanical ventilation, in l/s.m2. However, if I calculate my fresh air needs in l/s.m2 (during the day, in winter, all ventilation is mechanical in the building I'm simulating), the results don't give me the minimum air changes per hour I need to supply in each zone. This is rather stressing, since I though the program used the minimum fresh air requirements in l/s.oc, simply multiplying it by the number of occupants (derived from the occupant density and the zone area) and gave out the minimum air changes per hour. Please help me solving this problem.
Best regards,
André Coelho

Hello André,
I hope you succeed to downloading 1.4 (may be a site problem).
In v1.4, new options appear but the ACH in l/s.oc still exists. You can select the way the fresh air is calculated in the HVAC tab under Air distribution.
You will find many options but the 'per person' calculation run fine.

Dear Laurent,
Thank you. I finally completed the v1.4 download.
The minimum fresh air attribute I was referring to was on the Activity tab, right under the Minimum Fresh Air tab entry in l/s.oc. What I don´t understand is which parameter has priority (fresh air in l/s.oc or Mech vent per area, in l/s.m2), or if they are completely separated.
Best regards,
André C. |

Hi,
There is no priority. Depending on the Air Distribution Calculation mode you chose, these parameters will be taken into account or not.
For instance, if you select 'Per person', the l/s.m2 you see in the Activity tab is not used.
On the contrary, if you select 'Per area', the l/s.oc from Activity tab is not used.
You can also select option to sum the both or have the max.
This is help topic about all options:

Nice features to play with, isn't it?

Dear Laurent,
Yes, thanks. It's clear now. However, to avoid confusion, maybe one of the options in the Minimum Fresh Air tab of the Activity tab coulb be "blocked" or "unavailable", depending on the selection of the minimum fresh air method selected on the HVAC tab.
Nice feature, though, I agree. The more options, the more flexible.
Best regards,
André C.
