Dear Froum,

What is the best option to simulate a Balanced Heat Recovery Ventilation system for a single family dwelling?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Firstly, heat recovery is available when Compact HVAC option is chosen (Model Options).

Then you can model your ventilation in different way (unitary single zone or constant volume ...). In each case a Heat recovery heading will allow you to specify the equipment you expect to use.

Hello,
I'm also trying to simulate a balanced ventilation system for a single family home.
I enabled heat recovery in a CAV system as suggested by you. In the simulation results I notice that during cold periods the HVAC system is not able to reach setpoint temperatures (20°C). When I check the zone heat balance I don't see a factor for ventilation losses, only external infiltration. I think something is not right in the compact hvac autosizing. Is there a better way to simulate such a ventilation system?
Regards, Hannes
