hello everybody,
i'm starting to make tests on simulating a double facade in design builder. I tried to simulating by adding another block in front of the inner facade.
Then design builder automatically creates an interblock partition which is the same in both blocks. But there is in every block still another wall on this side, but with a hole as big as the interblock partition. When i look from the side on each block two walls can be seen. the interblock partition is outside, the other wall is a little more inside.
so are there now two walls? do I have to change the interblock partition to change the material of the inner facade? is the thickness of the whole wall the thickness of the interblock partition or of all walls?
or is it better to build the whole room with one block and then separate it in two zones?
regards

DB draws automatically holes into walls precisely to insert interblock partitions. But in fact, there is just an inter block partition construction between two adjacent blocks. If you change the construction of this surface being into a zone you will see the change in the other one. And yes, you have to change the interblock partition to change the material of the inner facade. The thickness of the interblock partition, in calculations, is the thickness of the construction it is defined by. I recommend revising this help topic:

I think any of these options could be adequate. Anyway, it is advisable to review this help topic:

Also, if you make a search into the forum you will find some topics where double facade modeling issues are discussed.
