Hi all,

I am trying to control my HVAC system with different temperatures over a day. Apparently, the only temperatures that my HVAC can "see" are the "setback" setpoint temperature and the "main" setpoint temperature.

What if I want to set my HVAC to meet 3(or more) temperatures over a single day?

Any help will be much appreciated !

Regards

Ioannis

This will be implemented in a future version of DesignBuilder.

In the meantime you can achieve fine control of temperature setpoints by editing the heating and cooling setpoint schedules in the EnergyPlus IDF data generated by DesignBuilder. You can find information on the format used for energy plus schedules by searching for 'Compact schedules' in the program help.

Hi Andy

and thanks for your prompt respond.

Even if I am using the "compact Schedule" thing, it does not allow me to use any other setpoints else than the "main" and the "setback" temperature setpoints.

Example:

Say that I have a space which I want it to be warm enough (22C) when occupants arrive (say at 14:00).
Also, say that the setback temperature is set at 10C.

What happens if I want my HVAC to respond, so that the temperature will rise gradually from 10C to 22C between ... say 12:00 and 14:00 ?

In any other case, probably the peak load will be massive at 14:00 if the HVAC has to respond to such a big temp difference in such a short time. I guess, it would be wise enough if I input another temperature setpoint (say 16C at 13:00) so that my HVAC has a less tought job to cope with.

So, the question is related to how I can do it using the "compact schedule" thing.

I would appreciate a reply. Thanks in advace!
