Dear Andy,
I'd like to evaluate the effect of taking the refresh air (natural or mechanical ventilation)of a certain "standard" zone from a "semi-exterior uncoditioned zone" or from a "glazed cavity" and not from the exterior. (Typical esxample Attached Sunspace)
Do you think it might be possible to add an option specifying where to take the air from?
The air source zone must take the same air flow rate OR from the exterior (the best) OR from the sink zone. I know that to do this is not immediate with E+ but it would be nice!
If it is not possible, please include this passive solution in the new hvac system release.
Best Regards

Luca,
Natural Ventilation
You can already define openings between occupied and semi external zones to allow the flow of natural ventilation air. Switch on the Calculated natural ventilation option to use this.
Mechanical Ventilation
The current version of DesignBuilder does not allow mechanically delivered air to be supplied through other zones, though it should not be a big change to the software to implement the Supply and Extract plenums offered by the EnergyPlus Compact HVAC descriptions. We will definitely implement this for version 2, if not before.
Regards,
Andy |
