When creating an SBEM model and trying to make it compliant with 2010 L2A, I would like to have a possibility to see all notional building inputs (geometry, windows, specification etc.). This could be done by enabling DesignBuilder to generate a separate dsb file which would contain a notional building instead of the actual building. This way I would be able to compare the actual building design with notional building in detail and find solutions to comply with building regs.
Do you think this is a good idea? Would it be difficult to implement? The notional building is created in background every time the SBEM calculation runs, so it should not be difficult to store it as a dsb file.
More advanced and even better would be a funcionality which would enable the actual and notional buildings to be compared side by side in one window.
Thanks,
Ondrej |

This is a very good idea and something that may be incorporated in our NCM Level 5 software. It would, however be quite difficult to do with sbem.
When running in sbem mode DB collects input data for sending to sbem. This is an input data file for the actual building. sbem then produces a notional building input file in a similar format to perform similar calculations. For us to then produce a notional building would require us to translate the sbem input file into a dsb format which would be complex and we could not guarentee its accuracy since much of how the data is handled in sbem is hidden to developers.
Thanks anyway and sorry for the delayed reply.
