| I am trying to model a building with an external walk way/ balcony all along the front of the building. The walk way has steel mesh panels around the edge. Any ideas how how to model the mesh for external shading? If I use standard component block I assume it will be solid and let no light through. |

you have an option to set up transparency in the materials. I would just set the percentage of holes in transparency and the default scenario (on). Watch out the transparency doesn't work for dayligthing calculation, only thermal simulation.

I have the same question as Darren.
Is there a way to model mesh screens for daylight modelling in DB?
I am currently using Window Shading -> Diffusing Blind with an appropriate visible transmittance, but the daylight model doesn't seem to give different figures.
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated
Regards,

I'm having the same problems as you guys have. The only sullution that I've come up with is to alter the Light Transmission value, which is affecting the daylight calculations. The problem is to enter a value that corresponds to the real world.
Let's say that you have a clear glass with LT of about 0,78, and the mesh has a transparancy of 0,5. The "system light transmission valuse" would be something like 0,5*0,78=0,39. But this is not really scientific, and there is a problem if the mesh only covers halv the window, since you have to enter the LT value for the entire window surface.
Any other suggestions? |
