Hello andy
is it possible to create a hothuose whit completely glazing surface? the program puts a pilaster on the corners!!

what is the best way to draw a recessed balcony/loggia
whit louvres on the front?

Elisa,

You can create a building with the minimum opaque area by setting the Wall thickness to a small value, such as 0.05 m, when drawing the block. Access the Wall thickness from the Drawing Options in the bottom left of the screen when drawing the block.

Also, remember that DesignBuilder generates EnergyPlus zones using internal surfaces so the opaque corner constructions that you mention do not take any part in the EnergyPlus simulations. You can verify this by looking at the DXF files generated by EnergyPlus in the EnergyPlus folder. I have attached a simple hothouse model to illustrate how a building looks when a small wall thickness is used in conjunction with the 'Fill surface (100%)' option.

Have you looked at the new Component blocks in version 1.0.2? These can be very useful for modelling balconies and louvres.
