Dear Sir,

I try to simulate AHSRAE Case 600 using pitched roof, and it worked. However, when I try with different building (still 1 zone + pitched roof), I found error message (Zero zone area)after the simulation process. How can it occurred?

Thanks,
Rahmi

This error occurs when all zones are unoccupied and 'Include unoccupied zones in block and building totals and averages' is unchecked on the Simulation options dialog on the Output tab. This results in the floor area being zero and averages cannot be calculated.

Again, I add one more zone (by add partition in zone 1), and when I rum simulation there is an error message: zone not convex in Full Interior and exterior simulation. What does it mean?

Hello,

This error occurs when one of your room has this configuration: each wall can't see each other.
This is a limitation when running Full interior and exterior solar distribution.
If you don't need interior solar calculation (for example to know what is going trough internal glazing), use Full exterior.

Thank you for the explanation.
Another question, what is the benefit of checked convex zone? Because I didn't get error message when I unchecked 'check convex zone' and still use full interior and exterior (advanced).
I intend to set a small glazing at my pitched roof.

Regards,
Rahmi

Check convex zone box is a control done by DesignBuilder before starting EnergyPlus.

The error message is clearer and you don't have to wait that EnergyPlus initialize.
This is the topic from the Help:
