Helping Energy Assessors produce EPCs more efficiently
A Free one day introduction to DesignBuilder SBEM
The first free day will be on: Friday 22-May-09 at CIBSE Engineering
Centre, 222 Balham High Road, London SW12 9BS
Changing to DesignBuilder SBEM was undoubtedly the best business decision
I've made regarding EPCs and Part L2 compliance work
Energy Assessor accredited with CIBSE Certification
DesignBuilder is working closely with CIBSE Certification to streamline
the process by which Energy Assessors are approved to lodge EPCs using the
DesignBuilder SBEM software. Energy Assessors currently using iSBEM will
immediately benefit by switching to DesignBuilder SBEM through significantly
reducing the time needed to model the building and enter data. Less time allows
assessors to submit more competitive tenders and win more work.
Attendees will be introduced to the many tools and strategies within the
DesignBuilder 3D graphical interface. For example, data inheritance and data
hierarchy means that data entered at building level is inherited throughout the
building. These data can then be edited by exception avoiding the need to enter
data zone by zone as in iSBEM. Furthermore, the ability to import floor plans
as DXF files or scanned images allows building models to be created quickly and
easily even for large, complex buildings. The 3D image allows errors to be
spotted and quickly corrected. EPCs and BRUKL reports are generated at the
click of a button and data, images and results can all be exported and compiled
into client reports. There will be a short multi-choice test at the end of the introduction
day.
Assessors who have completed iSBEM training, attended
the introduction to DesignBuilder SBEM and passed the test will be able to
immediately lodge EPCs with CIBSE Certification using DesignBuilder SBEM.
Attendees will be issued with a letter of attendance showing whether
they passed the test. Upon presentation of this letter to CIBSE Certification
they will be able to lodge EPCs using DesignBuilder SBEM.

To achieve the full productivity gains that DesignBuilder SBEM offers we
recommend that Energy Assessors attend one of DesignBuilder's regular training
courses. The two day course is for those who are new to DesignBuilder and the
one day advanced course is for those with previous experience who wish to use
the more advanced features of the software. Full details of the courses and
software can be found at www.dbcert.co.uk.
We have trained around 300 Energy Assessors and the feedback is that after
adopting DesignBuilder SBEM and training with us, Energy Assessors can quickly
recoup their investment through greater productivity and winning more work.
Energy Assessors who have not previously completed approved iSBEM
training are required by CIBSE Certification to sit the full DesignBuilder SBEM
examination.
As a special offer attendees at the one day introduction will
receive a 10% discount on a subsequent DesignBuilder SBEM
software purchase.
