To select an object, click on the 'Select' tool or select 'Select' from the right-click menu, then move the mouse cursor to the object to be selected and click the mouse to select. To select multiple objects you can either press the CTRL key while clicking on objects or drag a selection rectangle by pressing the left mouse button and keeping it pressed as you drag a window across the required selection, when you release the mouse button, the objects inside the window will be selected.
