Upgrading to DesignBuilder Version 2
DesignBuilder Version 2 was released on 10th May 2009 with many new capabilities and usability improvements. DesignBuilder perpetual licences are valid for a particular major version only and so v.1 perpetual licence holders wishing to upgrade to v.2 will normally need to purchase new licences. To help with this are offering a 40% discount on all v.2 modules for all v.1 licence holders.
Also to help customers who have only just bought v.1 licences we are providing free v.2 upgrades for all v.1 licences purchased since 1 November 2008.
SBEM Licences
In the UK and Ireland, all v.1 SBEM licence holders should by now have received a free upgrade. This means that v.1 SBEM licence holders will have nothing more to pay to use DesignBuilder SBEM v.2 until 10 May 2010.
Getting your upgrade Licences and Discount codes
If you are entitled to a free upgrade to any version 2 software, the activation code(s) and 40% discount vouchers can be accessed from the Your Order History page of our website. If it was not you that placed web order for the software then you should contact the person within your organisation that placed the order. If there is a problem with this please contact DesignBuilder sales.
The 40% discount vouchers and EnergyPlus and Visualisation upgrade keys will be added to your Your Order History page by Friday 16th May. In the meantime you will be able to use v.2 EnergyPlus, Visualisation and CFD in evaluation mode without restriction.
Prices
Prices for v.2 will show the same commitment to affordabality as v.1 prices and we will be offering a clear range of packages including the most popular permutations of Visualisation, EnergyPlus, Certification, and CFD modules.
Annual Licences
Annual licences are essentially a subscription to the latest version and so if you have an annual license active when v.2 is released you will be upgraded free of charge. v.2 upgrade keys are shown in Your Order History as described above.
Site Licences
With v.2 we will also offer a licence server for site licences to help IT administrators to manage DesignBuilder distribution over the network.
Single User Licences
As with v.1, DesignBuilder v.2 single user licences can be activated on a maximum of 2 computers. With v.2 this is enforced.
